The monsoon has begun and one gets reminded of the inconveniences that we might run into due to lack of proper planning and management. But as they say it, every challenge is also an opportunity in itself. Monsoon is the time for us to seriously think about rain water harvesting or tree plantation amongst many other things. The rains not only bring joy but also huge quantities of water which could be tapped and stored for the leaner season while saplings also get enough water, if planted during this season. And this is exactly what the different IYCN chapters across the country are trying to do this monsoon.
To begin with the Hyderabad chapter held an induction early this month. About 35 students of Gokaraju Rangaraju institute of technology and CVR college of Engineering participated in the induction. Majority of them have expressed willingness to work in one of the activities that would be taken up the the Hyderabad chapter. The Great Power Race and preparing the ground for it was the major highlight of the session. Following Hyderabad, the next induction was orgainsed in Mumbai, last weekend. About 25 young people from different walks of life (Students, Professionals etc) actively participated and discussed in small groups about the possibile things that could be done and how to implement the same in the coming weeks. The next induction is slated to happen on July 3rd.
After Mumbai and Hyderabad its Bangalore's turn now. The Bangalore chapter has four running projects and has scheduled an induction on coming Saturday (26th June). For further details, click here
