The 2nd batch of students of the EcoAudit program were successfully trained last month.  Following the success of the 1st batch that audited 13 companies reaching out to over a 1000 employees, the 2nd batch would be reauditing some of those companies while engaging in fresh audits as well.

On Saturday, 14 January 2012, professionals from ERM India Private Limited trained a batch of thirteen (13) new students joining theEco-Audit Program (EAP).  The ERM trainers included Mr. Pranav Sinha, Ms. Padma Valli, and Ms. Bhawna Yadav.

The students who were trained are from diverse fields of learning (including Engineering, Information Technology, Environment and Philosophy) and represented various institutions of higher education (e.g. Delhi College of Engineering, Netaji Subhash Institute of Technology, GGS Indraprastha University)

ERM trained the students on the following topics in an interactive, engaging workshop session (that included free-flowing discussions and role plays) spread over an 8-hour period.

  • Life Cycle of an Eco-Audit and students’ role at each phase (from initial contact, through first audit and Green Ambassador’s Workshop to presenting certificate of achievement after second round of audit);
  • Eco-Audit Procedure;
  • Basic Audit Techniques, i.e. making observations during site walkthrough; conducting staff interviews; and, review of documents to verify statements made by site staff/ conditions observed on site;
  • Soft Skills, Etiquette and Psychology for work at the site;
  • Report Writing Skills including coverage of how to phrase and present observations and findings; being specific and sticking to facts in the report etc

Going forward, the students will be conducting Eco-Audits in various companies and institutions over the coming year and help them in reducing their resource consumption.
