Beej - The Seed for increasing tree cover
A tree has numerous benefits and planting a tree is the least we can do to undo the damage we have inflicted on mother earth. Recognising the importance of this, IYCN has resolved to do its bit in increasing the tree cover of our country. Trees not only supply life sustaining oxygen but also helps in percolation of water and thus recharging the underground aquifers, prevents soil erosion by holding together the top soil (which otherwise would take thousands of years to get formed naturally), supports livelihood through its fruits and timber. In addition to this, trees regulate the surrounding temeperature, releases water through transpiration and helps form the rain bearing clouds, reduces noise pollution and the benefits are endless.
You may be an organization, company, NGO, community or individual, we would like to invite everyone to join hands in increasing the tree cover of our country and not stop with merely planting trees but actually taking care of them till they are mature enough to sustain itself.
