The Indian youth climate network in partnership with the Hyderabad Metro Development Authority (HMDA) and 92.7BIG FM is organizing an Environment & lake protection campaign (Theme: Go Green – Live Green) by mobilizing 500-700 students from 30 colleges in Hyderabad on August 13th at People’s Plaza near Necklace Road. The campaign will bring eminent personalities across various disciplines of science, engineering and social work along with Government officials of Hyderabad together with the youth of the city to highlight the importance of environment protection & lake conservation.

City's my valentine
On the eve of Valentine's Day, IYCN Hyderabad was back in action and this time with a unique message of love. We launched a campaign titled "Talk to your city" and urged people to love their city like they would love their partners or companions. As a run up to February 14th, we launched the "Perfect Date" video which has received a great response from people all around the city, gathering almost 2000 hits in less than 3 days.
Energy & Carbon audit_Apply now
Phase 2 of the Energy & Carbon Audit program is seeking applications for auditors who will execute the program. The auditor training is on the 11th – 12th of February 2012 in Hyderabad for 25 young individuals from the city. The program requires voluntary involvement of auditors and no remuneration would be provided. Please apply here by filling out the form.
Phase I of Energy and Carbon Auditing, has resulted in a dynamic group of people who are currently auditing various institutions like hospitals, schools, colleges and small companies. With a overall target of 25 institutions, we are now glad to announce the launch of the second phase for the program in Hyderabad.
Energy & carbon audit_applications closed
Earlier this month we had opened up applications for the energy and carbon audit program in Hyderabad. Thanks to the support of the American Embassy and the local media, we have been able to get a wide outreach and received over 250 applications in total.
This is to announce that the applications are now closed and the first training for the selected applicants will be on the 19th and 20th of November. Those selected will be informed via the phone by the 17th.
We thank everybody who applied for this program and all our supporters. After training the first team, we hope to do thorough audits of atleast 12 organizations in the next couple of months. We will have a similar training in January and for those who could not make it this time, rest assured we will write back to you again very soon.

IYCN Hyderabad meets The Chief Minister
On 22nd of September, just a couple of days before the Moving Planet Hyderabad event, the IYCN Hyderabad team met with the Chief Minsiter of Andhra Pradesh Shri Kiran Kumar Reddy. Though the meeting was very short, we explained the campaign, our work and the need to move towards renewable energy. Following this meeting, we met with his staff as well who promised to forward our demands to the energy department and also encouraged us to do more awareness raising activities both in rural and urban areas. He also promised to follow up with us regularly. Our meeting was widely covered by the local media as well.

It was a bright, pleasant Saturday morning (13th August) when the team had reported at the grounds, alongside the Hussain Sagar lake. The event kicked off at 8:00 am with the off- stage anchors engaging the participants in interactive sessions to boost up their energy levels. There were two groups challenging each other yelling “Go Green” on one side and “Live Green” in the most weirdest manner, style and tone possible!. This was followed by a short span of rapid fire, quiz and interaction highlighting simple ways of adopting green lifestyles.
The walk:
At 9:00 A.M. the interns took their positions, instructions were passed for the walk and a whole of around 300 Green Warriors set off on a IKM walk amidst cheerful slogans and laughter and not to forget, police security. The interns also took to a cycle ride through the walk. On returning, ten minutes break helped everybody refresh with fruits and water. With instructions and arrangements made for the proper disposal of waste, it was yet another lesson learnt. After everybody settled, there were some more ice-breakers, until the guests of honor arrived, at around 9:20 A.M.
World Environment Day - Hyderabad
The World Environment Day celebrations kicked off in a grand style from the Chief Minister’s camp office at 6:30 a.m in Hyderabad. The event was collaborated with World Wildlife Fund (WWF) and Andhra Pradesh State Pollution Control Board (APPCB). Our Hon`ble Chief Minister Shri Nallari Kiran Kumar Reddy greeted the crowd and we headed the rally along with the other NGO`S and Schools.
To enhance the motives placards with motivating slogans and artistic paintings that represented the need for immediate action. They were participants from all age groups.
IYCN were to represent water and we moved on by carrying forward water slogans aloud. It was a magnificent view with all the participants marching on the roads trying to create a sense of responsibility and awareness in the minds of people.

World Environment Day- Competitions
As a part of the ongoing World Environment Celebrations, the Hyderabad Chapter of IYCN organised a series of activities in the last week of May and will also be organizing a rally on the 5th of June.
In collaboration with World Wildlife Fund (WWF) and AndhraPradesh Pollution Control Board (APPCB) various competitions were conducted for the young talents at junior and senior levels. The various competitions includes Painting, Art with waste materials, Quiz, Essay writing, Story writing, Elocution, Group songs, Group dance were held from the 26th of May to the 2nd of June. Plenty of young budding talents participated in these competitions.

Indian youth climate network (Iycn) Hyderabad chapter in support with Humane Society International (HSI) has come up with an innovative idea to show the entire process of food making right from the farm to the plate of meal in its food-in-focus comeptition.

CMS Vatavarn film festival in Hyderabad
The CMS VATAVARAN film festival & the ENVIRONMENT forum 2010 will be organized in Hyderabad from August 4th to August 13th. The objective of the festival is to enhance the understanding and appreciation of the natural world and its conservation through films and environment forums. The event helps to bring to the fore diverse environmental issues and provide a global platform to discuss our contemporary environmental challenges through film screening, seminars, workshops, symposiums, eco-trips, environmental games, exhibitions and competitions.
The Indian youth climate network (IYCN) is a major youth outreach partner associated with CMS in Hyderbad and has reached out to over 300 youth from different colleges in the city to participate in the event. Our outreach focus was on campuses that are typically ignored for such events and the aim was to bring environmental awareness across different student groups in the city. IYCN has benefited through its partnership with ‘Street Readers’, a youth organization that is working on issues of education, career and youth entertainment in the city.

The activities in Hyderabad, from December 14th to the 16th will bring together students and young professionals from across the country for three days of learning and fun. The base camp will bring together students, environmentalists, academicians, politicians and many more for a series of discussions and debates on various issues of environment and climate change.
